Dividends, and the trap in the percentage

A Bangladeshi company declares its dividend as a percentage of face value, almost always ten taka — so "twenty per cent" means two taka a share, not twenty per cent of what you paid. What you actually earn is the yield: that two taka divided by the price. On a two hundred taka share, a twenty per cent dividend is a one per cent yield.
